Are the Elite Dumb on purpose?

By KT Banks

I'm just fed up.

Here I go again...

Okay. I've really tried to stay out of it for a while. I don't pretend to have all the answers. Actually, I have a lot of questions. So I've been reading a lot lately. I've been watching some popular news channels, and some not so well known ones.

I've been paying attention, trying to be non-partisan. As many of you know, I don't fully agree with either party. But I have to say as I've read the dumb-ass remarks made by some of the "elite" people in our society, I have to wonder. Are they really that dumb? Or are they just pretending to be, so they don't have to admit that they are just heartless? They can't possibly claim to be religious or spiritual people and still condemn the masses, so - knowingly. So maybe they just act like they don't know the difference between right and wrong. Do they even still ask themselves what would Jesus do?

It seems clear to me that many people revere the all mighty dollar and/or their political party way more than God.

Herman Cain said today, that it is wrong of people to say that Big Corporations are in any way to blame for so many people being jobless or poor. "Oh, REALLY?" So, the fact that they outsource so many jobs that Americans used to have doesn't have anything to do with it? What about the Big Corporations that have laid off millions of Americans, and are making the ones that have been lucky enough to keep their jobs work longer and harder than ever? One man can do the job of five, right? I can just hear the good old boys, "Hey, let's make sure no one gets a chance to work enough hours that we may actually have to treat them right and let them have benefits. Make their hours as unreasonable as possible right up till the cut off time for an official Full time status. That'll save us a few dollars! Who do they think they are anyway? Why should they get health care?"

Or, "Hey, let's cut the pay and benefits to thousands of our workers, it doesn't matter how long they've been with us. That way, we can give the 25 V.Ps. millions more, in dollars and benefits. Dang, that's the American way now."

Didn't there used to be a time that people were proud to work for certain companies? Companies used to be proud to say that they rewarded their people that worked for them for a certain amount of time, and stayed loyal to them. Now it's more like, "Let's get rid of the long timer's so we can pay a newbie a lot less money to try to do the same job."

Bank of America CEO, Brian Moynihan said that their people will understand the newer higher rates to use their own ATMs, to get their own money - out of their own bank. He said, "They understand that we have to make a profit!" OH REALLY? I closed my account.

When are They going to understand that We have to pay our bills, buy groceries, gas and make a living? Support our children, and God forbid, actually save a dollar or two for College Funds and/or Retirement?

They are so busy trying to choke us to death, I have to wonder, who do they think are going to shop in their stores and buy their goods? Eat in their Restaurants? If you kill off the Middle Class, won't that eventually kill off many of the businesses?

I'm going to purposely leave this hub short and sweet, just in case they really are as dumb as they sound.

KT, you sound like you should be standing with the 99% out on the streets. You have seen what almost all the country has seen and will not stand for it any longer. They can act dumb as they want but we know the truth. They actually think we believe them. We may be a little slow on the uptake but we are not stupid. As far as they are concerned there is an unlimited supply of suckers out there to swallow their line and lose their money and their lives to the 1%. I think now this is about to change, one way or another. Once the simpering dogs that run this country get it, that they will lose their cushy jobs, then watch the antics of the reelection reality set in. They will be out marching for our votes! Kissing babies, hugging old people, serving in soup kitchens you name it. Well piss on em, we don't need them. Thanks KT, Peter

Thanks Peter. I hope and pray that things can change. Do you really think these protests will help? How can I find out who is planning them and where?

See? I really do have more questions than answers now days. Sometimes it just feels hopeless. I was kind of glad that I got angry again today.

I have to agree with Mr. Cain, not that corporations aren't screwing us over, but that we allow it to happen. Take Bank of America, if everyone of their customers pulled their money out and went elsewhere...well then Bank of America would quickly change their ways. They would not have a choice. We simply do not stand up to corporations, our government or the media anymore, we allow ourselves to be spoon fed the BS and sit back and take it.

Thanks for writing this hub, we need more people like you speaking out!

Great to see you back KT!

I am a capitalist, I know the system works (with an in place safety net) but I wonder just how much profit the 1% percent thinks is enough. Are they really too stupid to see if they suck the 99% dry, they will eventually go down with us? And those in the same situation who actually support them, do they think they will share the wealth with them? I am like you I have so many questions I am trying to find the answer to my head aches.

Thought for the day from my favorite capitalist:

It is not the employer who pays the wages. Employers only handle the money. It is the customer who pays the wages. Henry Ford

Today business seems to have forgotten employees are the customers!

Herman Cain is just a blip on the radar. None of us will remember his name in 2 years. We need some big changes! A lot of corporations use the government as a tool to make it difficult for their competition. Its capitalists against capitalism. I've got a good example. I brew beer and with the TABC's approval I could distribute my beer up to a certain amount. At that amount I would have to go through the 3 tier distribution system. In that system I would have to brew an insane amount of beer in order to make any profit. I would need millions of dollars in equipment to make that much beer. The big 3 brewers have many lobbyists in Washington fighting to keep the 3 tier system on place. They spend more money than any other lobbying group in Washington. That is what's wrong with America! The big corporations bribe the government to make it impossible for the little guy!

I believe that the only candidate with the guts to change that is Ron Paul.

Thank you all so much for the comments. I didn't realize how much I miss this interaction. We may have some different views, but we all realize that something is very wrong.

I think just a year or so ago, most people were still happy hiding their head in the sand, trying to stay unaware. I think we've gotten to a place now that there's no place to hide.

That was a very well-written article. I appreciate that you are willing to put yourself out there with your opinions. I don't think I will ever understand why so many people think the Republican way is working. If you investigate ALEC, they are the epitome of capitalism. They use the loopholes and the new laws that allow corporations to fund candidates, and coerce elected officials to attend their "conventions" then hand them pre-written bills to take back home and get passed in their states. The list of contributors to ALEC reads like a who's who in big business. That's why the Republicans won't pass the jobs bill or raise taxes on millionaires - because they are taking money in one form or another from these people to suppress anything that would put a dent in their wallets. It's sad. Well, it's more than sad. It's pitiful. I can't state that it's criminal because, unfortunately, it's all legal; Their goal is the privatization of of everything so their corporations can set up businesses to run them.

Hi KT, I'm from Scotland, but the same kind of sh--e is going on here. Not that long ago our simpering, gutless, creeping Government bailed out the big banks using PUBLIC money and guess what? Once the ba----!! had been bailed out these same b-----d gave themselve a whopping big 'congratulations to all of us greedy gits bonus' - one of these Bd's awarded himself £7 million!!! They make me sick the lot of them! But I just hope with all this economic crap that's going on that they'll get what's coming to them. But I agree with another hubber here, the public have to start fighting back!

This was superb hub. Voted up + Awesome!

Bonnie and Seeker7, Thank you so much. I was so mad when I was writing this, that I was just hoping it would come across correctly. Sometimes when I'm that mad, I just hope I make sense. Thanks again!

Perhaps the movie line, (Network - 1976) "I am madder than hell and I am not taking it anymore," applies!

Leaders cannot be leaders if they do not have followers...

Awesome!

HI dallas93444,

I remember hearing about that movie, that phrase. I need to see if I can find it. It perfectly describes how I feel. Along with a lot of other people from the sound of it. Thank God!

I agree with every word you've written. The one question i might ask, " Why are the bankers not in jail? " Cheers...

KT Banks Hub Author 7 months ago

always exploring, Don't get me started on Bankers. lol

My mother is 81 yrs old and she is going through a terrible time with Wells Fargo. Through a technicality, that probably wouldn't even be legal a few years ago, she may lose her home.

She has never even been late with a payment. However, there is a problem with taxes and escrow. She and my sister keep saying that what the bank is doing is just wrong and unethical, but the sad truth is that it doesn't matter anymore. So long as it's technically "legal" - they can continue to terrorize our elderly and limited income people. She has talked with so many people about it, and not one even seems to have a conscious. They simply do not give a damn.

I will Never do business with Wells Fargo, even though I think they are all pretty much the same, low down dirty rotten bastards now days.

I had a Bank of America account once and they said that if I deposited CASH into my account I had to wait 48 hours to use it, so when I got to the teller I simple closed my account and went elsewhere.

Your article was very readable and to the point, thanks for sharing!

Turn your TV off (Sell it while it is still worth something) disconnect your cable and get your news from alternative sources, you won't regret it and you will not believe how it will change your LIFE! Everything on it is LIES

Governments and banks never make sense to the middle class. We are expected to pay for everything, they all want our vote, but they all just tell us how they'll spend more of our money or spend it differently than the next guy. None of them will make any substantial tax cut for the middle class. What's the point in voting you say?

KT, Awesome hub. I love the WWJD comment. I hope more people will wake up if the truth is constantly put out their face. Some are pretty dense.
